Really the main purpose of me starting this crazy amazing blog is because of the upcoming trip to Spain.
Basically my name is Sam, I'm 100% Australian. I have a family of nine consisting of my Mum & Dad, Five Brothers and One Sister. We are all practicing Catholics, and due to our involvement in the Church my brother Jake(21) and Myself(18) stumbled across a Diocesan program known as "The Internship."
This amazing program encouraged young people like myself to get more involved in the ministries of the Church, and in exchange for two years of part time ministry involvement, the Diocese would return the favor by paying for us to attend WYD in Spain this year. (Cracker Deal!)
So Jake and Myself took on many roles and ministries in the Church such as Music Ministry, Eucharistic Ministry, Parish Council, Overheads, Maintenance, Events, and of course our crowning achievement "The Youth Group" in which we are very proud.
Originally it was run by a girl from the parish that unfortunately had to move away for study thus the youth group burnt out, but luckily due to the kindling of the Internship Program, my Brother Jake and I were able to pick up the ashes and fan the flame back into an active and vibrant group of young Catholics on the Central Coast.
I believe thats enough of my backstory to sate your curiosity, but feel free to post or email me further questions about what I've been up to, the internship or WYD.
Speaking of World Youth Day, i will be leaving for Spain in four days from writing this blog, so i literally cannot put into words how excited I am to have two years of service finally pay off, and to be able to leave Australia for the first time in my life.
So I will finish where I started by saying this blog is a means of which I can share my journey with you by frequently updating you with the amazing experience I am about to embark on, by means of writing chunks of text like this, posting photos and some sweet videos of the experience. I just hope for my sake and yours that there are plenty of WiFi hotspots for me to get access to Internet to update regularly.
Cheers
Sam

ReplyDeleteThat girl then moved to Melbourne, where she is now the Manager of your Blog Buddy. Small world much?
So very true she went on to do something that I think more fully utilised her knowledge and gifts.
ReplyDeletehopefully I get a similar opportunity down the track.
